City of Sioux Falls Contractor License Bond
The City of Sioux Falls Planning and Development Services department requires contractors to post a surety bond as part of the licensing process. Building contractors must post a bond in the amount of $20,000, while all other contractors must post a $10,000 bond. Contractor classifications that require a $10,000 bond are listed below:

Electrical Contractors or Class B Electricians Undertaking Bond
$10,000 electrical undertaking bonds are required of electrical contractors or Class B electricians by the South Dakota Electrical Commission of all electrical license applicants. These bonds are subject to underwriting consideration as they are deemed risky by the surety company. This means that a surety underwriter must review the applicant’s financial history, credit history, and bond applications before determining whether and at what premium the bond can be issued.

Completing the Maintenance Electrician Renewal Application Form

Attaining 16 hours of continuing education (with a minimum of 8 code hours), due with renewal applications or by June 30
